CGPSC SSE Exam Pattern 2026

Prelims Exam :

1. The paper will be an objective type of paper
2. The mode of the paper will be offline
3. There will be a total of 100 questions in each paper
4. Each paper will be of 200 marks
5. There will be 2 marks for every right answer and 1/3 negative marks for every wrong answer.
6. The total time allotted for each paper will be 2 hours

Main Exam (Conventional Type) :

1. Question papers of the main examination will be of conventional type, short/medium/long answer.

Candidates shortlisted for the main examination on the basis of the preliminary examination will have to appear in all the seven papers of the main examination. Candidates shortlisted for interview on the basis of the main examination will have to compulsorily appear in the interview. Candidates who remain absent in any paper of the main examination and in the interview will be disqualified.

Except the first language paper, all other question papers will be answered by the candidate only in Hindi or English as per his/her choice, but no question paper will be answered partly in Hindi and partly in English.

2. Question Paper-02 (Essay) will have two parts. 1. International and national level issues, 2. Issues of Chhattisgarh state. Candidates will be given four options in each part, out of which they will have to write essays on two options each on problem solution (reason, current situation with data and solution) in about 750-750 words.

Question papers number 03 to 07 for the main examination will contain the following questions:-

Section 01- Under this section, a total of 22 questions will be given from different parts of the syllabus of the respective question paper, all the questions have to be answered. Each question will carry 02 marks. In this way, the maximum marks for this section will be 44. (Word limit for answering each question is approximately - 30)
Section 02- Under this section, a total of 13 questions will be given from different parts of the syllabus of the respective question paper, all the questions have to be answered. Each question will carry 4 marks.
Thus, maximum marks for this section will be 52. (Word limit for answering each question is approximately 60)
Section 03- Under this section, total 08 questions will be given from different parts of the syllabus of the respective question paper, all the questions have to be answered. Each question will carry 8 marks.
Thus, the maximum marks for this section will be 64. (Word limit for answering each question is approximately 100)
Section 04- Under this section, a total of 02 questions will be given from Part-02 of the syllabus of the respective question paper, out of which the candidate will have to answer only 01 question. In this section
There will be a maximum of 10 marks for this. (Word limit for answering the question is approximately 125)
Section 05- Under this section, 02-02 questions will be given from Part-01 and Part-03 of the syllabus of the respective question paper, out of which the candidate will have to answer only 01-01 2 questions part wise.
Only these questions will have to be answered. Each question will carry 15 marks. Thus, the maximum marks for this section will be 30. (Word limit for answering the question is approximately 175)

3. The selection procedure will be governed by the Commission's Rules of Procedure-2014 (as amended).
