1. Research Aptitude :
Evaluates fundamental concepts of research methodology, design, and data handling.
Foundations of Research: Meaning, characteristics, types of research (qualitative vs. quantitative, descriptive vs. analytical, fundamental vs. applied), and the scientific research process.
Research Problem & Formulation: Identification of research problem, literature review, defining research objectives, and identifying research gaps.
Hypothesis Formulation & Testing: Types of hypotheses (null, alternative, directional), formulation criteria, and basic concept of significance testing.
Measurement & Scaling Techniques:
Scales of measurement: Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and Ratio.
Attitude measurement scales (Likert scale, Semantic Differential, etc.).
Single-item vs. multiple-item scales; comparative vs. non-comparative scales.
Measurement errors, validity, and reliability (criteria for good measurement).
Data Collection Methods: Primary vs. secondary data; questionnaire design process, types of questionnaires, interviews, observation, and schedules.
Sampling Concepts & Design:
Sample vs. Census.
Probability sampling (Simple Random, Stratified, Systematic, Cluster) vs. Non-probability sampling (Convenience, Judgemental, Snowball, Quota).
Sampling and non-sampling errors.
Research Ethics & Report Writing:
Meaning of research ethics and ethical codes (for researchers, clients, and respondents).
Plagiarism and intellectual property rights (IPR).
Structure and mechanics of research report/thesis writing, citation standards, and bibliography formatting.
2. Communication Skills :
Focuses on English language proficiency, comprehension, and structural communication.
Reading Comprehension: Short to medium academic and general passages; identifying core themes, inferences, tone, and context-based meanings.
Grammar & Sentence Mechanics:
Error detection and grammar correction (Subject-Verb Agreement, Tenses, Modifiers, Prepositions, Articles).
Sentence improvement and phrase substitution.
Sentence Structure: Sentence re-ordering / Para jumbles and sentence completion.
Vocabulary Usage:
Synonyms and Antonyms.
One-word substitution.
Idioms, phrases, and word replacements.
Commonly confused words and contextual vocabulary.
3. Logical Reasoning :
Assesses critical thinking, structural deduction, and visual-spatial reasoning.
Structure of Arguments: Distinguishing premises from conclusions, identifying assumptions, and evaluating argument strength.
Deductive & Inductive Reasoning: Assessing valid vs. invalid arguments, sound reasoning, and logical deductions.
Verbal Analogies: Word analogy, applied analogy, and functional relationships.
Verbal Classification & Series: Odd-one-out, letter series, number series, and pattern recognition.
Logical & Venn Diagrams: Simple diagrammatic relationships, multi-diagrammatic intersections, and syllogisms.
Analytical Reasoning: Blood relations, direction sense test, and basic linear/circular seating arrangements.
