Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BHEL Artisan position, candidates must meet the following criteria as of July 1, 2025:
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Class 10th (Matriculation) pass certificate along with a National Trade Certificate (NTC/ITI) and a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the relevant trade. A minimum of 60% marks is required for General/OBC candidates, and 55% for SC/ST candidates in both NTC/ITI and NAC.
Age Limit: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age for the General/EWS category is 27 years.
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per government rules (OBC: 3 years, SC/ST: 5 years, PwBD: 10 years).
Selection Process
The selection process is a two-stage procedure designed to evaluate both theoretical and practical skills.
1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE): This is the first stage, which is a competitive online exam. The syllabus and exam pattern cover general aptitude and technical knowledge related to the candidate's specific trade.
2. Skill Test & Document Verification: Candidates who qualify in the CBE will be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio for the Skill Test. This test is a practical assessment of the candidate's trade skills and is qualifying in nature. Document verification is also conducted at this stage to confirm eligibility.
Salary and Job Profile
Salary: Selected candidates will initially be engaged as temporary employees for a period of one year. Upon successful completion of this period, they will be regularized as Artisan Grade IV. The pay scale for a regular Artisan is ₹29,500 to ₹65,000, along with various allowances as per BHEL's rules.
