Odisha District Constable Recruitment 2025 – New OUASSC Board, Vacancy, Eligibility & Selection Process Explained

Odisha District Constable & Odisha Police Recruitment – Latest Detailed Update
The latest update highlights important changes in the recruitment system, vacancy details, eligibility criteria, and the overall selection procedure for District Constable and other Odisha Police posts. The information has been explained in a clear, structured manner to help candidates understand the upcoming opportunities.
1. New Recruitment Board Introduced
The Odisha Government has created a new authority known as the Odisha Uniform Service Staff Selection Commission (OUASSC).
This commission has been formed to bring all uniform service recruitments—such as Odisha State Police, Excise, Communication Constable, District IRB, OSP and other similar posts—under one integrated system.
Purpose of OUASSC:
To streamline and centralize recruitment procedures.
To ensure that candidates do not face overlapping exam schedules.
To bring uniformity, transparency, and faster recruitment cycles for all related posts.
2. District Constable Vacancy Highlights
Total Posts Advertised: 429 District-wise vacancies have already been published.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th standard.
Age Limit:
General eligibility: 18 to 23 years
Special Relaxation (2025 Cycle): Additional 3 years for all categories
UR/SEBC: Upper age becomes 26 years
SC/ST/Female: Upper age becomes 31 years
This extended relaxation significantly widens the opportunity window for many aspirants.
3. Selection Process (Simple and Candidate-Friendly)
The recruitment process consists of three stages, designed to assess knowledge, physical fitness, and document authenticity.
Stage 1: Written Examination (CBT)

Total Questions 100 MCQs
Total Marks 100
Duration 2 Hours
Negative Marking 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer

The written exam tests basic aptitude, reasoning, and knowledge relevant to the post.
Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Includes parameters such as height, weight, and chest measurements as applicable.
The major physical task is a 1.6 km running test, which must be completed within 6.5 minutes.
Current indications show that the physical standards are unlikely to change in the upcoming recruitment cycle.
Stage 3: Final Procedures
1. Document Verification
 2. Medical Examination
 3. Preparation of Final Merit List based on performance in earlier stages.
4. Additional Key Points for Aspirants
Low Competition Advantage
Historically, the cut-off for certain reserved categories has gone as low as 30 out of 100, indicating relatively low competition in some districts.
This is a strong incentive for serious aspirants to prepare consistently.
Salary Growth Due to 8th Pay Commission
Candidates selected in this recruitment drive could see a significant jump in pay once the 8th Pay Commission is implemented.
Projected starting salary from 2026 onwards may reach ₹45,000 to ₹50,000 per month.
Upcoming Vacancies
There is a very high indication—almost 99% assurance—that new District Constable vacancies will be released before December 31.
This makes it the right time to begin preparation.
