Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Punjab and Sind Bank LBO position, candidates must meet specific criteria as of August 1, 2025:
I. Educational Qualification: A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
II. Experience: This is a lateral recruitment, so candidates must have a minimum of 18 months of work experience as an officer in any Public Sector Bank or Regional Rural Bank on a regular basis. Experience from private banks, NBFCs, or cooperative banks is not considered.
III. Age Limit: The minimum age is 20 years, and the maximum is 30 years. Age relaxation is provided for reserved categories as per government norms (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: 10 years).
IV. Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in the official/local language of the state for which they are applying, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language.
Selection Process
The selection process is a two-stage procedure designed to assess candidates' banking knowledge, aptitude, and language skills.
I. Online Written Examination: This is a 120-minute online test with 120 objective-type questions for a total of 120 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer. The exam consists of four sections:
1. English Language (30 questions, 30 marks)
2. Banking Knowledge (40 questions, 40 marks)
3. General Awareness/Economy (30 questions, 30 marks)
4. Computer Aptitude (20 questions, 20 marks)
II. Interview and Local Language Test: Candidates who qualify the online examination will be called for a personal interview, which carries 50 marks. The final merit list is prepared by giving a 70% weightage to the online exam score and a 30% weightage to the interview score. Proficiency in the local language is a mandatory and qualifying requirement for the final selection.
Salary and Job Profile
I. Salary: The selected candidates will be appointed to the Junior Management Grade Scale I (JMGS-I). The pay scale is ₹48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,160-2680/7-85,920. The starting basic pay is ₹48,480, along with various allowances, making the total gross salary approximately ₹70,000 to ₹75,000 per month.
II. Job Profile: An LBO's primary role is to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of a bank branch at the local level. This includes providing customer support, processing loans, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, and maintaining branch records.
