RRC Southern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025
The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of Southern Railway has released a significant notification for the recruitment of Apprentices for 2025. This is a major opportunity for young individuals to secure a position and gain valuable experience with the Indian Railways. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 3,518 apprentice posts across various trades within the Southern Railway's jurisdiction.

The vacancies are segregated for both Freshers (100 posts) and Ex-ITI candidates (3,418 posts) across different divisions and workshops, including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Salem, Palakkad, and Trivandrum.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the RRC Southern Railway Apprentice position, candidates must meet the following criteria as of August 25, 2025:
I. Educational Qualification:
1. For Freshers: Candidates must have passed the 10th or 12th class examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
2. For Ex-ITI Candidates: Candidates must have passed the 10th class with a minimum of 50% marks and hold a National Trade Certificat (ITI) in the relevant trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
II. Age Limit: The minimum age is 15 years. The maximum age for Freshers is 22 years, while for Ex-ITI candidates and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT), the maximum age is 24 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.
Selection Process
The selection for the RRC Southern Railway Apprentice is entirely merit-based. There will be no written examination or viva-voce.
I. Merit List: A merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying educational examination (10th/12th/ITI). For ITI apprentices, equal weightage will be given to both 10th class marks and ITI marks.
II. Document Verification & Medical Examination: Candidates shortlisted based on the merit list will be called for document verification and a mandatory medical examination to ensure they meet the physical standards.
