The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of the South Western Railway (SWR) has announced a significant recruitment drive for Act Apprentices in 2025. This is a golden opportunity for individuals seeking to gain valuable vocational training and experience within the Indian Railways, a major employer in the country. A total of 904 apprentice posts are available across various trades, offering a chance for hands-on learning and potential future career paths.

Important Dates to Remember:

The application process for the RRC SWR Apprentice Recruitment 2025 commenced on July 14, 2025. Interested and eligible candidates have until August 13, 2025, to submit their online applications. The fee payment also has the same last date. It is highly recommended that candidates apply well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical glitches. The merit list will be released later, and successful candidates will be notified.

Vacancy Details:

The 904 apprentice slots are distributed across different divisions and workshops within the South Western Railway zone. While specific trade-wise breakup will be available in the official notification, here's a general distribution:

 1. Hubballi Division: 237 Posts

 2. Carriage Repair Workshop, Hubballi: 217 Posts

 3. Bengaluru Division: 230 Posts

 4. Mysuru Division: 177 Posts

 5. Central Workshop, Mysuru: 43 Posts

These vacancies are typically for various trades such as Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Machinist, Carpenter, Painter, etc., depending on the requirements of each workshop and division.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for these apprentice positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Age Limit: As of August 13, 2025, candidates must have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories: 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.

2. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th class (Matriculation) examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized Board. Additionally, they must possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or a Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.

Application Fee:

A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 100/- is applicable for General and OBC candidates. However, SC/ST, Women, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.

Selection Process:

The selection for the RRC SWR Apprentice posts is primarily based on a merit list. This merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by candidates in their 10th standard examination and their ITI certificate. There will be no written examination for these apprentice positions. The selection process typically involves:

1. Merit List Preparation: A merit list is drawn up based on the average of the percentage marks obtained in the 10th standard and the ITI qualification.

2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification to ensure all submitted documents and information are accurate and authentic.

3. Medical Examination: A medical fitness examination will be conducted to ensure candidates meet the prescribed physical standards for railway service.

1. Registration with a valid Aadhar Number, email ID, and mobile number.
2. Filling out the online application form with personal and educational details.
3. ploading scanned copies of required documents (10th mark sheet, ITI certificate, caste certificate if applicable, photograph, signature, etc.) in the specified format and size.
4. Paying the application fee (if applicable) through the online payment gateway.
5. Reviewing the application form thoroughly before final submission.
6. Taking a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
