SAIL Apprentice Recruitment 2025
The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking, has announced a significant recruitment drive for Apprentices for 2025. This is a major opportunity for young, technically-skilled individuals to gain valuable industrial experience and a potential career path with one of India's leading steel manufacturers. A total of 816 apprentice positions have been announced, distributed across various plants, with a focus on the Rourkela Steel Plant.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria as of August 31, 2025:
I. Educational Qualification:
1. Trade Apprentices: Must have passed ITI in a relevant trade.
2. Technician Apprentices: Must have a Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
3. Graduate Apprentices: Must have a B.Tech/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
II. Age Limit: The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum is 28 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.
III. Registration: It is mandatory for candidates to be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portals before applying.
Selection Process
The selection for the SAIL Apprentice positions is merit-based, with no written examination or interview.
I. Merit List: Candidates are shortlisted solely based on the percentage of marks obtained in their qualifying educational examination (ITI/Diploma/Degree). A merit list is prepared separately for each trade and category.
II. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called for a mandatory document verification round. This stage is crucial to confirm the authenticity of the academic qualifications, age, and caste certificates.
III. Medical Examination: A medical fitness examination is conducted as the final step before the provisional selection.
Stipend and Apprenticeship Period
I. Stipend: Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. The stipend amount varies based on the qualification. For Trade Apprentices, the stipend is typically between ₹7,000 and ₹7,700 per month.
II. Apprenticeship Period: The duration of the apprenticeship training is one year. It's an excellent opportunity to gain practical, on-the-job experience in a real-world industrial setting.
It is important to note that the apprenticeship does not guarantee a permanent job with SAIL upon completion. However, the experience and a valid apprenticeship certificate from a Maharatna PSU are highly valued in future recruitment processes, both in the public and private sectors.
