TNPSC Group 2 & 2A Eligibility 2026:
Educational Qualification:
Assistant Inspector : A degree from any UGC-recognised University. Preference given to candidates with: M.A. in Social Work, Diploma from Madras School of Social Work, M.A. in Applied Psychology, Diploma in Labour Welfare, MSW, Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Administration, etc.
Deputy Commercial Tax Officer : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Junior Employment Officer : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Probation Officer : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Jailor (Men) : A degree from any UGC-recognised University. Preference given to candidates with Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration or Master’s in Social Work.
Jailor (Special Prison for Women): A degree from any UGC-recognised University. Preference given to candidates with Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration or Master’s in Social Work.
Sub Registrar, Grade-II :
(i) A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
(ii) Preference given to persons who also possess a B.L. Degree.
Special Assistant :
(i) A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
(ii) Must have passed Government Technical Examination in Typewriting, both in English and Tamil, by Higher Grade.
Special Branch Assistant :
(i) A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
(ii) Preference given to those who have passed Typewriting and Shorthand at least by Lower Grade.
Special Branch Assistant :
(i) A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
(ii) Must pass Typewriting by Higher Grade during probation if not already passed.
Assistant Section Officer (Law) : B.L. Degree awarded by any UGC-recognised University.
Assistant Section Officer (Legislative Assembly) : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Assistant Section Officer (TNPSC) :
(i) A Master’s degree; OR
(ii) A Bachelor’s degree and a B.G.L degree; OR
(iii) A Bachelor’s degree with First Class in any part. (For SC/ST/MBC/BC, a Bachelor’s degree is sufficient).
Assistant Section Officer cum Programmer : Must possess Master’s degree in Computer Application (MCA) or Master’s degree in Science (Information Technology / Computer Science).
Qualification For Group 2A Posts :
Senior Inspector (Milk Production) : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Senior Inspector (Co-op Societies) : A degree from any UGC-recognised University OR Diploma in Rural Services OR Diploma of Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Preference given to candidates with qualifications in Co-operation (M.A., M.Com, B.A., Diplomas).
Audit Inspector : A degree from any UGC-recognised University. (Only Hindus eligible)
Handloom Inspector : A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
Supervisor / Junior Superintendent :
(i) A degree from any UGC-recognised University.
(ii) Preference given to persons who have passed Government Technical Examination in Book-Keeping by Higher/Senior Grade.

Male Warden :
